Hot, dry and with a summer smog was in fact my first impression, on the way from the airport into the city. However, as soon as we enter Santiago, things don't look quite the same...It is developed, maybe not as much as Europe, but definitely not as underdeveloped as India. It has streetwalks, huge flat buildings, a quite ordered traffic (though I didn't arrive during the rush hour) and with quite common cars, fancy girls and fancily dressed. I had been warned though that I was going to one of the wealthiest areas of Santiago, so more to find out in the upcoming days.
The guesthouse where I am staying for these first days is indeed very nice, but with a peculiar concept. More on this shortly...
